I have a sister who is fourteen years younger then me. Big age gaps like that make you feel responsible. I’ve noticed how her perspective of the world is different then mine was when i was her age because she has seen me and my other sister (two years younger than me) navigate the realm of our BA and MA degrees and beginning our careers. She see’s us as role models.

 

Role models are important in how we shape our identity. However I feel that at times there is a lack of female role models that I would truly like to see my younger sister model herself on. 'PROW: Postive Representation Of Women' is a project to improve positive representation of strong, brave, intelligent and beautiful women. The kind of women I would like my sisters and my future daughters to look up to.

 

I hope that these illustrations will make a difference in the way we imagine women in our minds, not only for my young sister, but for all young girls out there. I want them to see a world where women are visualised as brave, intelligent, powerful and beautiful, as leaders, innovators and explorers of the world. How we represent women will shape the reality of how women are regarded in society.
